2017 Championship Weekend Wrap Up

With the conference championships completed and our mythical game between top independent school Notre Dame and conference championship-less Troy has a winner (Notre Dame of course), we can move on to a true championship bracket. The conference winners and Notre Dame would be ranked 1-10 according to their final season ranking. Two play-in games would have been played this weekend between 8/9 and 7/10 at the better seeds home stadium. Those winners would then travel to the home stadiums of the top 2 seeds while 4/5 and 3/6 would play at the better seeds home stadium.

For entertainment purposes, we will assume the two home teams win the play-in games. Toledo would travel to Clemson while Notre Dame travels to UCF. Georgia would host Ohio St and Oklahoma would host USC in quarterfinal games. These games would be contested the weekend of December 16. The four winners would have the weekend of December 23 off before returning to action January 1 for semifinal action. Those two winners would have a week to prepare for the championship game on January 8.
